Thirty Years at the Stove
Cheffrey has spent thirty years inside professional kitchens. His career began in restaurants, working his way up to find his passion: cooking. That early work built the operational instincts and creative range that would carry him through everything that followed.
From there, Cheffrey moved into the high-stakes work of restaurant openings — contributing to the launches of Timothy's and Twisted Fork, two of the most talked-about culinary projects in the area, as well as a gourmet burger joint, Brick House Burgers.
Chef on the Run was a natural next step. In 2009, Cheffrey made a deliberate choice to get out of the restaurant scene and do something a little more personal. Whether that means a private dinner in your home, a cooking class for your family, or a pickup meal crafted with the same care as a restaurant plate, every service through Chef on the Run is a product of everything those thirty years produced. For customers in Texarkana, Hochatown, Hot Springs, and beyond, that experience is now available at your table.
Cheffrey has been named the best Chef/Caterer in the region multiple times by 4 States Magazine, ALT Magazine, and Texarkana Gazette.
Cooking With Intention
The philosophy is simple, every meal deserves the same care. Sometimes that means sourcing quality ingredients rather than convenient ones- other times it means applying technique that has been refined over three decades. A private dinner for eight and a Tuesday pickup order occupy the same space in Cheffrey's mind — both are an opportunity to be creative. His unique approach to Southern cuisine is what has earned him the Best of Texarkana award for 20 years in a row.
Jeff enjoys spending time with his many friends and visiting his dad when he's not cheffing. He also takes several fishing trips each year - his favorite hobby!
